Spain Donates EUR 70,000 to ITF for Cluster Munition Removal

Spain has donated EUR 70,000 to the Slovenian-run fund for demining and mine victims assistance, ITF Enhancing Human Security. The donation for removal of unexploded cluster munitions in Lebanon was signed on Wednesday by Spanish Ambassador Anunciada Fernandez de Cordova and ITF director Dorijan Maršič.

(Geneva, 18 April 2012) Yesterday at the global meeting on progress being made against the Convention on Cluster Munitions, states home to communities living in the shadow of unexploded cluster bombs gave updates on how the treaty forges increased clearance of this lethal threat.

Workplace team building helps landmine victims

Did you know there's around 2000 landmine accidents a month in around 60 countries and that 20 per cent of the 300,000 landmine amputees around the world are children? So what's the connection then between land mines and workplace team building exercises in Australia? A new project has been launched called "Helping Hands" and in your workplace you can build prosthetic hands for victims of landmines.
